"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Jesus is Inviting You: "Come to Me" Jesus is inviting you to come into a relationship with Himself. Jesus is telling you "Come to me...and I will give you rest." This is a promise by God, for only God can make a such a promise. If you come to Him, then He will give you rest.
Coming to Jesus means entering into His presence. Walking up to Him in your mind and heart with all that you are and with all that you have done, and talking and sharing with Him all that your heart holds. You might be thinking, "Oh, I can't do that...with all that I am...." But Jesus wants you just the way you are. Jesus doesn't put any restrictions on His invitation, except that He wants you to come. Jesus says directly "Come". And He attaches a promise to it. That If you come, He will give you rest." The only condition to that promise is that you must come to Him in order for Him to fulfill His promise.
Jesus knows you: "All you who are weary and burdened" The fact is that Jesus already knows all about you. God made you and knows everything that you have ever thought or done. He knows your weaknesses and strengths, your loves and your hates, and Jesus loves you with all these things. Jesus' love is unconditional. "Oh God, you know my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee."8 Jesus loves you just the way you are...However, He loves you too much to want you to remain unhappy and heavily laden, with sin and troubles and....
In fact, that is why he is inviting you to come into a relationship with Him. He knows that only He can heal your wounds and give you new strength and make your life joyful.

Jesus Promises You: "And I will give you rest." When you join into a friendship with Jesus, you can only win. Because of who Jesus is, you will find immense love, unshakable peace, unquenchable joy, and eternal purpose. His rest is for your soul.
Jesus says: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."6 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives."4 "These things I have spoken to you so that my joy might remain in you and that your joy might be full."5 Paul writes "And he made known to us the mystery of His will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ...His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities... according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord."7
Loneliness that you feel, that emptiness... When your soul experiences Jesus' presence, you will be fulfilled. For only God can fill that hole in your heart that is meant for only Him. Nothing is as substantial or as eternal as the Love that God has for you. You may have tried to fill that emptiness with all sort of thoughts and actions, but you will always come up dry and empty, because that thirst is for God alone.
However, you cannot have God's Love until you repent, or turn away from your own sins and invite God into your heart. You see, God will never force His way into your life. He may invite you to have a relationship with Him over and over again, but unless you say "Yes" to Him and share your life with Him and live in His friendship, you will never receive the benefits of His friendship.
God has given everyone free will, free choice to accept His friendship or to not accept it. To reject God's friendship through His son Jesus Christ is to reject His Love and His free gift of eternal life that is meant for you. For Jesus had you in mind when He was on the cross. Jesus was carrying your sins and mine on that cross...but only if you accept that sacrifice and gift of Love will your soul and life change. To not accept it and to not have it effect your heart and mind is to remain as you are and for your life to remain in its same mode and direction.
and the passage continues...
"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:29-30)
Jesus' Remedy: "Take my yoke upon you " A yoke is what oxen wear when they are pulling a plow for the farmer to plow the field. It is customary for the young oxen to be teamed up with an older and experienced ox so that the older and stronger ox can carry most of the load and the younger ox can learn from the experienced ox how to move and turn according to the needs of the farmer.
Jesus likens himself to the older experienced ox who will carry most of the load and teach us how to be. Jesus' yoke in our lives is the submission of our will to His will. It is our agreeing with the fact that He is all-wise and all-knowing of our self and our situation and that we will do what He thinks best rather than our own thoughts, emotions and desires. It is choosing to do God's will because it best serves Him and us as well.
If you would like to take Jesus' yoke upon your heart, and have Him carry your burdens and teach you to way that you should go, please click YES.
Jesus' Command: "Learn from me" When Jesus asks you to do something, He will always make it possible for you to do it. But first you must desire in your heart to do what He asks you to do, and then He will help you with all the rest. Jesus Christ gives you at least five important tools to help you learn from Him.
1- Jesus gives you a clean heart to be able to fellowship and learn from Him. "You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in in me."16
2- When you have made Jesus the Lord of your life, Jesus gives you the Holy Spirit to live in you and teach you!
"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth....But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.9
"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."10 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." 11
3- In order to learn from Jesus, we must read His Words. They are in the Bible.
"For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight."12 Here Jesus reveals that He is alive and active. Jesus, the Word of God, performs open soul surgery, showing you where you stand in relationship with the Lord, righteous or unrighteous, and God draws you to Himself.
"So is my Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."13 God sends out His Word to you to do a good work in you. When you change because of His Word, "You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace."14
4- Prayer: a continuous conversation with the Living God. Talk with the Lord incessantly: "Pray continually"15 Jesus wants to hear you tell Him how you are feeling, and what you are struggling with, and what you are thinking...as well as your joys. And Jesus wants you to listen to Him as well. Jesus communicates to us through the Holy Spirit and God's Words in the Bible. Listening to Him well requires discernment, or judgment on whether it is Jesus or your own desires leading you. Reading and understanding the Bible will train your mind and heart to hear His voice and guide you away from pit falls. "But we have the mind of Christ."17 "to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."18 As you grow in the Lord, you will be able to discern His voice over all of the others out there clamoring for your attention. Please take me to: How to Pray
5- Church, worship of the Holy Trinity with fellow believers, fellowship with these Christians and instruction by worthy teachers are necessary gifts God gives us as tools to grow in our relationship with Him. Make sure the church you go to also believes our Statement of Faith.
Jesus' Nature: "for I am gentle and humble in heart" Gentle means of noble birth, polite, refined, courteous, chivalrous, serene, patient, and kind. Humble means not proud, not self-assertive, modest, and unpretentious. Even though Jesus is God's son, of noble birth, He does not push us to love Him, but does gently guide us as far in loving Him and we choose. When Jesus was walking the earth: "Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him"19 Matthew 20:34 "Jesus said I have compassion for these people...they... have nothing to eat...Then he took the seven loaves and the fish...the number of those who ate was four thousand..."20 Matthew 15:32,36,38 "Come and see, Lord, they replied. Jesus wept."21 John 11:35 "As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it..."22 Luke 19:43 " Woman, where are your accusers? Has no man condemned you?... And Jesus said unto her, Neither do i condemn you; go, and sin no more."23 John 8:7 Jesus repeats "The greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves...But I am among you as one who serves."3
Jesus' Promise: "And you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Jesus promises that you will find rest for your soul. Not maybe, but definitely yes if you give him your love, your life and the control of the situations which you are in. You see, Jesus is aware of every part of your being and your situation. Jesus wants to help you, but He cannot do it unless you allow Him to take charge, to take over. When you give Jesus control, the results will change. You will find rest as He handles your heart, and those people and circumstances which cause you trouble. Only God knows that proper outcome. It may not be as you would wish, but it will be the best in the long run, the eternal run.
God will not put you through more than you can bear. And God will bring you to a far better place than you have ever been - in direct relation to how much time you spend with Him in prayer and learning His Word, the Bible. God is a God of action, and His action is increased as you grow closer to Him in love and obedience.
The hardest thing you will have to bear is to learn to trust Jesus Christ more and more while enduring the greatest peace and joy you have ever known!! And His love is permanent!! God's promises and life in the Holy Spirit will reveal the redeemed life in Christ Jesus.

I give you my life, please renew me in Your will and I pray that I will do your will. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for loving me. I love you, Jesus. Thank you for giving me eternal life! Amen.

Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3,4 God bless you as you grow close to Him!!
