Communication - The Bible

God communicates to you and me is through His written Word, the Bible. The Bible presents a unified message of redemption and love from God for His people throughout history. God inspired more than 40 authors to write 66 books over a span of 1500 years for the expressed purpose of communicating with you personally. No one else has or ever will go through such lengths to reveal their most intimate thoughts, emotions, desires, commands and ways to you for the exact reason of having a vibrant relationship and life with you!

In the Bible God tells you and me "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;  Isaiah 1:18 For I know the plans I have for you,  declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11  The Lord says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jeremiah 31:3

God declares that His Word is True, trustworthy and without error. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man (or woman) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Tim 3:14-17

"Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Pet 1:20,21

What makes the Word of God so unique is not just that it's been intact and without error for almost 3500 years, but that it has an effect on the heart of the reader and hearer of the Word. And that effect is exactly as God purposes!

God says, "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." Heb 4:12 "My Word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.  Isaiah 55:11

I cannot explain how this happens, but I know that God's Word is spiritual food and it has an effect. When a person takes God's Word to heart, God performs open soul surgery. God's purpose for His Word is to bring you and me, and everyone, into a deep abiding relationship with Himself based upon His Son Jesus Christ, Who is the Word of God (Jn 1). "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. Jn 5:24

We can choose to believe and trust God's Word for our personal life, or not.

Jesus said, "63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. 64Yet there are some of you who do not believe." Then He asked, 67"You do not want to leave too, do you?" and
68Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God." Jn 6

How have you been living? With God or without Him? Do you open God's book daily to read His thoughts to you, His love and commands for you? When you read them, do you take them into your heart and allow God to change you for the better? Do you respond to the Lord with your words, thoughts and actions?

Or do you ignore God's Word for you as if He doesn't matter? Do you shut God off acting as if other things are more important than the God Who created you and deserves your worship and attention?

Whatever your choice, remember that God is constantly wanting you to read His Word personally, for your heart and life. God wants to make a difference in your life, but you need to actively invite Him to do that, and allow Him to change you.

Please pray with me -        Lord God thank you for having Your Word the Bible written for me to know you intimately. Please forgive me for every time that I have pushed you aside and valued anything as more important than what you have to say and do for me. Jesus, thank you for coming down from Heaven to teach me the value of your word, and for dying on the cross to take away my sins. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit that I would learn from you and live for you forever and 4ever, in Jesus Blood I pray, Amen.

Additional Notes -

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Heb 4:12-13

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isa 55: 8-12

Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law does he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.  Psalm 1

Your Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.  Psalm 119:105

The Law of the Lord is  perfect, reviving the soul.  The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.  The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.  The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.  The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous.  They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.  By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.  Psalm 19:7-11

Your word , O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.  Psalm 119:89

Jn 1 1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning. 12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- 13children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. 14The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jn 3

The roman centurion trusted God at His Word, too. For that his son lived,

5When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."
7Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."
8The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. …. 13Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. Mt 8

God is sovereign and in full control, yet He gives you and me free will to choose Him or reject Him. God's Word says "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8 and Jesus confirms this "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. Jn 15:5

 Communication - All Nature

The Lord God Who exists made all of creation seeks out you and me speak with us personally!!

God’s book, the Bible, is God's Word for you and me.  - This is how we tangibly know God's Ways, His thoughts, feelings, and His heart for you and me, personally! God tells us “since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Romans 1:19-20

Webster's Dictionary defines communication as: the giving or exchanging of information. In all of creation God communicates to you and me through Nature, His created world.  God is the initiator of our dialogue.  God is the first one to communicate with us, and God wants our exchange, our response back.

When you woke up this morning and no matter what the weather was, you were being cared for by the Lord God Almighty.  God made sure this earth was the exact proper distance form the sun so that you would not fry or freeze.  God made sure there was enough oxygen for you to breathe yet not too much were the world would automatically combust.

Trademarks of this God's  design are everywhere! Gazing at the intricate imprints of the fingers and toes of a newborn -  Viewing the magnificent way the iris and pupil change sizes within the eye -  feeling the tender velvet of a rose petal which seemingly grew on its own -  all of these show tremendous engineering and complex design which earmark the Ultimate Designer, God Almighty.   The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Ps 19:1

Job was a man who went through tremendous hardship. His whole family and land were wiped out in a single day.  So Job questioned God and God answered him.  God always honors a sincere and honest call to Him.  In fact, God says "Call upon My Name."  It is very important and healthy for you to speak to the Lord God.  And be sure to wait and trust His answers for you.

Then the LORD answered Job -  "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?   "Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb,  when I fixed limits for it, when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt'?

Can you loose the cords of Orion?  Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons?  Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God's  dominion over the earth?

Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?  "Does the hawk take flight by your wisdom and spread his wings toward the south?  Does the eagle soar at your command and build his nest on high?   Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind?

Then Job replied to the LORD :  "I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.  Job 38-42

Did you know that you are written about in the Bible?    In Psalm 139 God says -    You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. Your eyes saw my unformed body.

O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.  You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You are familiar with all my ways.  Ps 139

For those who never have heard of Jesus Christ or the Bible, God has still revealed Himself to them.  God states "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.   Rom 1:20    That means that all people are given enough information to either choose to live with or without the living God.  God says in Hebrews "Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,"  Heb 9:27

Since God communicates to us through nature and all creation, what does God say to us?

1-         That He loves us just as we are - unconditionally.  God cares for us without our input, while we are on this earth.

2-         That God is all-sufficient and does not need us to sustain His Work or Will.

3-         That there are unchangeable laws and concepts, which God alone sets, such as gravity, seasons, magnetism, inertia, mass, density, electricity, time, and much more.

4-         God sets principles of His Word throughout nature so the one who has not read or heard the Bible can still know of God's mind and heart.  Just study the caterpillar to the butterfly to see 2Cor 5:17.

5-         The beauty of God's creation draws us into wanting to be apart of something bigger.  Something of eternal significance.

6-         God's invites you and me to worship Him and be a part of His Work and Will.   "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.   Ecc 3:11

What will you see of God today?  Will you feel the gentle breeze and be reminded that He is as close as the air to you?  Or will you see the sun's rays pour through a clouded sky knowing God's glory always shines, and that nothing can put it out?  When the new day dawns, will you remember that God's mercies are new everyday?

What is your response to God?  Will you praise the Lord of all creation and your maker for His immense love, mercy and grace for you?  Will you invite Him into your heart so that He will never leave you or forsake you?

Will you pray? -          Dear Lord God of all Nature, Search me and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Ps 139  Please draw me near to you so that I my heart may see you more clearly.  Please clean me by your Son Jesus Christ's atoning death on the cross.  Please forgive me of all I have done wrong against You.  Thank you for forgiving me, and fill me with your Holy Spirit that I would live for you forever and ever. In Jesus'' Name I pray, Amen

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen. Romans 11:36
