The Devil has many names, but his purpose is clear. The devil opposes God and tries to ruin Believers and to hinder the True Faith in Jesus Christ to establish his own kingdom. But the devil has already been defeated and condemned! At the time of God's own choosing, he will be bound in the eternal fire to be tormented day and night for ever and ever! The Devil's: Purpose Limitations and Destiny Names The Devil's Personal History To oppose God To ruin Believers To Hinder the True Faith To establish his own kingdom To oppose God: "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the lord?" Acts 13:10 "'I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'" Acts 26:17,18 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 2Corinthinians 6:15 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. 1John 3:7-10 Also, Romans 16:20; Revelation 12:12,13 To ruin Believers: Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1Corinthians 7:5 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. 1John 5:18 Also, Luke 22:31,32; 1John 3:12; Revelation 12:17 To Hinder the True Faith: The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Revelation 12:9 Jesus explained, "The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels....The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil." Matthew 13:38 Also, John 8:44; Acts 5:3; 1Timothy 5:15 To establish his own kingdom: You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit. Isaiah 14:13,14 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. So if you worship me, it will all be yours." Jesus answered, "It is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve him only." Luke 4:5-8 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2Corinthians 4:3,4 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves... Colossians 1:13 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. 1John 5:19 Also, Matthew 12:25; Luke 11:18; 2Corinthians 11:11-15 Please rescue me: Bring me to Salvation The devil's power is limited : The Lord said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord....At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said, "Naked I came from my mothers womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the lord be praised." In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing. Job 1:12-22 The Lord said to Satan, "Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life." ...Job 2:6-10 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, "The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?" Zechariah 3:1,2 Jesus said, "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." Luke 22:31,32 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 2Thessalonians 3:3 "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one." Matthew 6:13 Destined to be Defeated and Condemned: I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heel." Genesis 3:14,15 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! you have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." John 12:31,32 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossians 2:15 Jesus said, "...and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned." John 16:11 Expelled from Heaven: And there was a great war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. Revelation 12:7-12 Thrown into the Lake of Fire: Jesus said, "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Matthew 25:41 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelation 20:10 Some names are: Abaddon, Accuser of our brothers, Angel of the Abyss, Apollyon, Belial, Dragon, Enemy, Evil One, god of this age, Guardian Cherub, King of Tyre, Liar, Morning Star, Murderer, Prince of demons, Prince of this world, ruler of the kingdom of the air, son of the dawn, spirit who works in those who are disobedient, strong man. More names are: Beelzebub: Matthew 12:24, Mark 3:22, Luke 11:18,19 Devil: "You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the lord?" Acts 13:10 and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:27 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:11 Also, Matthew 4:1-11, 25:41; Luke 8:12; John 13:2; Acts 10:38; Acts 13:10 Father of lies: Jesus said, "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." John 8:44 Roaring lion: Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1Peter 5:8 ...in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. Ephesians 2:2 Satan: Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel. 1Chronicles 21:1 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightening from heaven." Genesis 3:1-15 Also, Revelation 12:9, 20:2 Tempter: The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Matthew 4:3 If you have ever been involved with Satan, or the Devil, there is a way out!! Jesus Christ came on this earth to save you from the Devil!! Do not believe the father of lies. Jesus wants you to come to Him just as you are and He will set you free! Jesus says, "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36 If you have addictions, if you act like the devil has a hold on your mind and your body, if you fear often, then you need the blood of Jesus Christ, the Savior. Jesus understands you and loves you unconditionally! Believe and trust in Jesus! Please say this prayer: Jesus, you know who I am and what kind of a person I am. You alone know that there is no way that I can get out of where I am by myself. I have tried, and I feel trapped. Please Jesus, forgive me for all of the bad and rotten things that I have done. Wash me clean with Your Holy Blood of the Cross. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I may learn from you. Jesus, I give you my life, I give you my problems, I give you my heart. Jesus, I make you Lord over all of me. Please make Yourself more real to me, concretely show me all about You. Help me to obey You and give You the glory all throughout my life! I love you Jesus! Thank you for setting me free, and for forgiving me of all of my sins. Help me to do them no more, and help me to forgive myself as well. In Your Holy Name I Pray, Amen.
